Soup Time!! 1st Reveal

Today is the 1st of three Bead Soup Blog Party reveals!

I am in the 3rd reveal on August 25th, but about a third of the 400 people participating in Lori Anderson’s 6th Bead Soup Blog Party are posting their reveals today.  In fact, most of them went live at midnight.

I’m posting a link to Lori’s reveal, which is a great place to get you started.  At the bottom of her post (actually about half way down) is a list of the rest of the participants.

Grab some coffee (or a pot) and see what amazing creations have come from this exchange.

If you want a picture view all in one place, you can check out what Tanya of Fusion Muse put together ~ First Reveal in Pictures.

Bead Soup Partner

Lori of Pretty Things assigned partners over the weekend, and in spite of the state of my blog, I’m in the 6th Bead Soup Blog Party!

Donetta of Simply Gorgeous is my partner for this swap.  I’m pretty excited that we’re partners for several reasons.  She lives in Portland, Oregon, which is practically a hop, skip, and jump from my home in the Seattle area.  I love Portland and hope we’ll make it back down there this summer with the kids.

Since Portland is so close, I’m going to commit to making the piece I was considering for my focal.  Looking at the calendar and the other things on my schedule in the next week or so, I know it’ll be tight to get it done and in the mail by July 2nd.  But since Donetta is so close, if I’m late by a day or two, then it will still get to her pretty quickly.

I think we also make good partners because, like me, her site isn’t quite where she wants it right now.  She is in the process of moving, so she has a much better excuse than I do.  The BSBP will be a great opportunity for both of us to get to updating and posting again.

By browsing her blog, I get the impression that she likes to do exchanges and challenges as much as I do.  In fact, I love the pieces she did with the Suddenly Spring Challenge in March.

I think we’re a match made in heaven.  I can’t wait to get to work on my soup mix, and I’m pretty excited to see what she sends my way.

6th Bead Soup Blog Party

Lori Anderson of Pretty Things is hosting the 6th Bead Soup Blog Party!  Sign-ups are going on now.  If you are not familiar with the party, you sign-up, Lori assigns you a partner, and then you exchange some beads with your partner.

You must send a focal piece, a fancy clasp (no boring plated lobster claps!) and a collection of coordinating beads. It’s a pretty laid back exchange, but some of the ladies are quite generous with what the send along.

Once you receive your beads, you stew (har, har) over them and create a piece.  Of course, you must use your focal piece and clasp, but after that, it’s all up to you.

Then on reveal day (and for several days later), you and all the participants reveal their pieces and everyone jumps around to the blogs to see what was created with their mystery ingredients. I promise that it’s as much fun as it sounds – even more.

I was one of the participants in the very first Bead Soup Blog Party.  Back then, it was a “small” group of 84 participants.  The party has grown so much since the first party back in February of 2010.

I also participated in the 2nd party with nearly 100 participants, which was a ton of fun.

But by the time the 3rd party came along, I was pregnant with baby girl and did not have it in me to participate.  I also missed out on parties four and five.

Each successive party has grown larger than the last, so this time Lori made the decision to spread the party out over 3 dates.  I’ve remained on the email list for the parties because I’ve had so much fun with them, and hoped that one day I’d be able to play again.

When I read that party #6 would be the last one for this year and that it would now be switching to an annual party, I decided it was time to play again.  Since I am working on bringing my site back to life and combining blogs, I decided to give myself the most time by selecting the 3rd reveal date.

I’m all signed up and ready to join the party.  I even know what I want to make for my swap partner – if I can get myself together enough to create it.

Bead Soup Party: Day 8 (The End)

We’ve reached the end of the second round of Lori Anderson’s Bead Soup Party. I’ve really enjoyed my second serving of soup and I’m ready to get the third pot going. I have a bead convention coming up in less than two weeks, so I am very excited to look for something fun for my next partner.

Today is the last day to enter my giveaway from the bracelet pictured in my reveal on Day 3.  All you need to do to enter is leave a comment (one per person please).  Comments will close at midnight PST.

Here is the last helping of soup…

Bead Soup Party: Day 7

The party is almost over, which is sad. But there are still lots of lovely blogs to visit today and tomorrow. There are only a couple of days left to win a bracelet by commenting (one per person please) on my piece from Day 3.  My plan is to close the comments at midnight PST tomorrow.

I have an idea in the works for one of the other focals I received from my partner, Kate of Tropical Blonde, but my week has gotten away from me.  I will definitely post when I do get it done.

Don’t forget to visit these blogs today.

Have a good night!

Bead Soup Party: Days 5 & 6

I meant to update with the links every day, but work has been INSANE this week.  We are a small office and one gal is out on vacation this week. I’ve been bringing work home (since I’m lucky enough to remotely connect to our system) and staying up late to get more done.

Make sure you take a moment to post a comment (one per person please) on the piece I revealed on Day 3. You will be entered into a contest for the bracelet pictured at the end of the Day 3 post.

Bead Soup Party Day 5

Bead Soup Party Day 6

I have nothing intelligent left to say tonight.  I hope you’re enjoying the party!!

Bead Soup Party: Day 4

(don’t miss my bead soup from yesterday)

I wanted to start today with a huge thank you to everyone who commented on my Bead Soup piece.  I have loved reading through all the comments. I actually think this is my favorite part of the party.  (Well, okay, cool beads it pretty awesome too.)  I just love getting all of the feedback.

The party continues today, so don’t miss out on some more amazing pieces. I am truly humbled by the talent of the designers in this party!

I promised more pictures of my giveaway bracelet, so here goes…

Here is a closer view of the beads created by Kate at Tropical Blonde. Someone commented yesterday that they looked like candy, and I completely agree.  I wonder what flavor they would be??

The square, brown beads are more of Kate’s lovely polymer clay creations. I added some Carnelian rounds and copper spacers to complete the bracelet.

I made my own clasp for this one too.  I never realized it would be so addicting to make clasps.  I am totally loving it.  If I could find a good toggle design, then I might never go back.  Actually, someone had a lovely stamped one, and I’m considering seeing if I can duplicate it.

So… if you’d like a chance to win this bracelet, then don’t forget to comment (one per person please) on my Bead Soup post from yesterday.
